Microneedling
ALSO CALLED COLLAGEN INDUCTION THERAPY

What is Microneedling?

A small reciprocating micro-needle pen is used for this treatment. The microneedles make small punctures on the skin, and the body creates new collagen and elastin fibres as part of the healing process. The excess collagen and elastin cause the skin to plump and thicken, which reduces the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and acne scars. Are you tired of fine lines and wrinkles making you look and feel older? Are you dealing with large pores, a poor skin texture, or sagging skin? Do you have acne scars on your face? If so, microneedling may be right for you.

Who is a Microneedling candidate?

Ideal candidates are women and men who:

  • Have not used Accutane within the last 3 months
  • Do not have open wounds or cuts
  • Do not have skin infections
  • Are not pregnant
  • Do not have a history of poor wound healing
  • Have fine lines or wrinkles
  • Have acne scars
If you aren’t a candidate, you can still undergo another procedure at Merle Norman Abbotsford. Read about other facial treatments available or send a photo in for an assessment.

What are the benefits?

Boosts Skin's Natural Collagen Production Microneedling promotes the skin's natural production of elastin and collagen, improving the skins texture. Patients can enjoy these results after undergoing a few microneedling treatments. Improves Skin Tone Many people suffer from skin tone issues due to sun damage, hyperpigmentation, and acne scars. Boosting collagen production addresses these concerns, improving the skin’s overall tone and glow. Smoothes Skin and Texture Large pores can be a concern as they become clogged and cause skin problems. Microneedling can reduce the size of the pores, leaving the face clear and clean. The reduction of size can also improve skin texture. Improves Efficacy of your Skincare Products Skincare products work best when they can reach deep into the skin. This is improved with the microneedling procedure. The products move through the tiny piercings made during the microneedling process and penetrate to the deep layers of the skin.

How long with the results last?

The results from microneedling are not permanent, but they can be long-lasting with a proper skincare routine. Patients can repeat microneedling every 4-6 weeks, and many choose yearly touch-up treatments to maintain the results.

What can I expect after my session?

Some patients notice results quickly after. However, it takes time for the newly produced collagen and elastin to work; it can take up to 4-6 weeks to see the full results of the treatment.
